The Fellow will provide care:

• in consultation with supervising consultants, as deemed appropriate.
• In accordance with the published Junior Medical Staff rosters, which may vary from time to time, unless directed otherwise.
• By incorporating the best available evidence regarding quality and safety, including RWH Clinical Practice Guidelines.
• Through effective communication with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• With accountability for care delivered by junior medical staff under supervision or delegation.
• Comprehensively, ensuring timely record-keeping, discharge preparation, and communication with referring practitioners and those providing ongoing care.

Training Program:

The Fellow will participate in a joint appointment between the Royal Women’s Hospital and The Australasian Centre for Endoscopic Surgery. They will join a busy specialist unit within the Department of Gynaecology, accredited by the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES) under a two-year AGES Accredited Training Program (AATP). The unit focuses on teaching, research, and delivering over 200 major hysterectomies and myomectomies annually among other surgeries, maintaining at least 8 operating lists per week.

The training encompasses complex gynaecological surgeries, both laparoscopic and open, including:

• Complex hysterectomies and myomectomies
• Advanced benign pelvic surgery
• Advanced endometriosis surgery
• Endometrial ablations using first or second-generation treatment methods.
• Advanced hysteroscopic techniques, including fibroid and polyp resection.
• Additional exposure within the private sector includes:
• Pelvic floor repair
• Gynae-oncology
• Fertility surgery and IVF
• Robotic surgery

About you

• Fulfil the training requirements of accredited training positions.
• Actively engage in research projects during the two-year term of their contract.
• Participate in and conduct teaching, audit sessions, and presentations suited to their level of training and experience.
• Supervise and teach more junior registrars and HMOs and Instruct medical students.
• Engage in audit and practice improvement activities.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and activities.
• Undertake duties consistent with their skills, experience, and credentials.
• Serve on relevant committees and participate in management and service development activities, suitable to their skills and experience, in consultation with the JMS body.

This position will involve a substantial clinical and research workload. This position is funded for 0.25 EFT through The Royal Women's Hospital. The remainder of the remuneration is funded through private assisting, and private partnership sponsorship. It incorporates private assisting, teaching, and research. It is suitable for accreditation with RANZCOG as Elective Programme training.

This position is most suitable for trainees who are in the last year of their FRANZCOG training and have passed both the written and oral exams.

Fellows are expected to commit to a two-year training program and to participate fully in clinical service, research, and training in laparoscopic surgery.

Health Information Services (HIS) at the Women's covers a range of services including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support, scanning, medical record retrieval for patient care and research, clinical coding, statutory reporting and data integrity, Privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, medical enquiries/release of information (ROI) requests and medical transcription (outpatient service).

The Women’s EMR team is an enthusiastic and growing team responsible for the day-to-day management, operation, and improvement of the EMR. The team liaises with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders of the EMR and works collaboratively with the four Health Services and the Parkville EMR team to deliver outcomes to benefit patients and staff. The EMR is used by more than 18,000 clinicians and staff across the four health services and is delivered in partnership with Epic, a global leader in health information technology.

The Business Intelligence and Analytics Unit manages the reporting of the hospital’s key performance indicators against performance targets and assists the business with regular and ad hoc activity reporting, coordinates activity benchmarking, provides a data assurance role for activity submissions, and develops and reports clinical costing for The Women’s.

About the role

This exciting role, reports to the EMR Senior Clinical Informatics Analyst (Outpatients) and is primarily responsible for the design, build, testing, configuration, installation and support of Outpatient requests and as directed by the Senior Clinical Informatics Analysts and/or Director of Informatics. Cadence is the Epic enterprise scheduling product used to schedule and track patient appointments. This role is required to work closely with other members of the Informatics department to achieve this.

As the Clinical Informatics Officer (Outpatients) you will support system configuration for all EMR Cadence needs for clinicians and administrative staff. This will involve supporting and advising stakeholders of solutions, improvements and optimisations. You will ensure delivery of proposed solutions meet the needs of affected Women’s stakeholders to maximise streamlined and standardised workflows. You will be required to deliver and assist with face to face training to new and existing users as well as maintaining and preparing training materials.
You will work collaboratively with the RWH EMR Team, RWH Business Intelligence & Analytics Unit, Parkville EMR team, local health service EMR teams and key stakeholders, EMR vendor and technical teams, to ensure the EMR is maintained, operates within accepted risk levels and is optimised for the Women’s to benefit all departments.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Provide support & system configuration for approved outpatient enhancements that align with the continuous improvement of the EMR
• Deliver EMR communications and education to support the introduction of new build changes and EMR upgrades and other ongoing training needs.
• Perform analysis of workflows, enhancement requests and other technical issues associated with the EMR and work with key stakeholder to develop functional and technical solutions that reflect an in-depth understanding of the user’s requirements.

Anaesthetic Provisional Fellow/Senior Registrar

The Anaesthesia Department at the Royal Women’s Hospital has an international reputation for its clinical care, research and training. Advanced training positions are available for trainees seeking further experience in anaesthesia for obstetrics and gynaecology. Fellowship will focus on high risk obstetrics & maternal medicine, gynae-oncology and peri-operative medicine. The Women’s provides, among other services, abortion and contraception, assisted reproduction and women's emergency care. Fellows will be involved in multi-disciplinary meetings for care of high-risk patients, the complex care unit and the acute pain service.

About Archives

The Archives Department will primarily be based at the Carlton site, however work will be undertaken across both Parkville and Carlton campuses. It is responsible for overseeing both the historical and cultural memory of the hospital as well as the management of the hospital’s corporate and acute records. This service sits under the Health Information Services (HIS) structure.

Health Information Services (HIS) at the Women's covers a range of services including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support, scanning, medical record retrieval for patient care and research, clinical coding, statutory reporting and data integrity, Privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, medical enquiries/release of information (ROI) requests and medical transcription (outpatient service).

HIS also looks after the Archives Department, which is responsible for overseeing both the historical and cultural memory, as well as advising the corporate records retention & destruction process for the hospital, according to relevant statutes, legislation and retention authorities.

HIS sits within the Informatics Department which has 4 key portfolios:

This Project Manager role will be responsible for implementing the outcomes of the completed Archives review and will be responsible for project and change management from planning through to execution and benefits monitoring stages. Please note: this is a hands-on position with the incumbent undertaking a lot of the deliverables.

The Project Manager will work collaboratively and harness the expertise of multiple stakeholders to deliver proposed improvements. The type of project in scope will deliver systems and efficiency improvements, new business practices, sustained change and contribute to exceptional experiences for our patients and staff. 

This position will undertake and manage a tender process from inception through to completion for the Women’s Secondary Storage facility in late 2024. There will also be an opportunity to review records that may be considered for destruction according to Public Records Office, Victoria (PROV), Retention and Destruction Authority (RDA).

Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Services, this position utilises project management discipline and methodologies (ie. Prince2, Agile etc), business acumen and engagement skills to ensure strong collaboration and successful execution of high-value, high-impact projects.

A regular day will see you:

• Develop a project plan to ensure outcomes of the completed Archive review are scheduled and delivered within project timeframes, with a major review into transitioning an Access Database into a suitable content management solution, as well as a plan for digitising of Archives content.
• Drive end to end project delivery through day-to-day management of activities against the project plan. This will include in many cases actually developing the artefacts/deliverables, i.e. updating policies, processes, tools, writing communications, and being quite hands-on in the tasks where necessary.
• Ensure projects have clear objectives, effective resource allocation, realistic timelines and risk assessments
• Prepare written reports to communicate progress and inform projects decisions, including briefings, discussion/decision papers, project proposals and status reports
• Evaluate systems and processes to identify potential projects and to continuously improve systems
• Contribute to the overall performance and positive culture of the HIS team and broader organisation

About you

• Tertiary qualifications in one of the following: information studies (Records and Archives Management), records management, health information management, project management, or equivalent

Postgraduate Neonatal Intensive Care Program  2025 - Registered Nurse

About Neonatal Services

As a state-wide leader in neonatal services, each year we care for up to 2,000 premature and unwell babies from across Victoria in our Neonatal intensive care and special care nursery.

The neonatal team provides a family-centred care approach including the introduction of Family Intergrated Care (FiCare) mid 2024 as part of the "Stronger Together Project".

Neonatal Services at The Women’s Hospital, Melbourne has up to 62 beds, including neonatal intensive care and special care pods. It is one of the largest nurseries in Australia. As a state-wide leader in neonatal services, each year we care for up to 2000 babies premature and unwell babies in our Neonatal intensive care and special care nursery each year from across Victoria. These babies may be premature or unwell full-term infants with a range of neonatal conditions such as preterm birth congenital anomalies, respiratory disease, birth trauma, peri partum hypoxic, brain injury and metabolic disorders.

The unit also has a key role in providing education and training for local, national and international health professionals as well as an extensive research program.

Clinical placement is offered to participants undertaking a postgraduate in neonatal intensive care nursing course through Latrobe University or the University of Melbourne. Acceptance into the program will be in conjunction with a paid clinical position at The Women’s Hospital, Melbourne Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Intake dates: Possible Mid Year intake  2024 and Early  2025 intake

Postgraduate Studies in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing is a 12 -18 month program (graduate certificate) for registered nurse and midwives who wish to undertake postgraduate studies in neonatal intensive care.

Entry Requirements:

• Minimum 12 months recent acute nursing or midwifery experience
• Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA), with current eligibility to practice
• Meet the eligibility and entry requirements for postgraduate study through Latrobe University or University of Melbourne
• Be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia

 Program Outline:

 Theory will be provided by either Latrobe University or University of Melbourne. Clinical experience and practical support will be provide by The Women’s Hospital.

The unit is responsible for raising the profile of and promoting issues to do with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health within the hospital and the broader community. About the role

The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) is responsible for providing support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families receiving care at the Women’s. The AHLO has a key role in supporting the promotion of indigenous patients’ health issues across the organisation and in the community. This position will work closely with the award winning Baggarrook Yurrongi team which offers Caseload midwifery care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and babies, the Women’s Drug and Alcohol Service [WADS] who provide medical care, counselling and support to patients and babies with complex substance use and dependence related medical complexities and Social Work. In addition, this position will also work closely other members of multi-disciplinary teams across the hospital ensuring that we are providing high quality and culturally safe care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families aligned with our commitment to Closing the Gap.

A regular day will see you:

• Provide quality patient focused care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, babies and their families as inpatients and outpatients in the Women’s 
• Support multidisciplinary teams in the formulation of culturally safe, competent, evidence-based care including admission and discharge planning as well as culturally safe bereavement care, advocacy, community liaison and referral
• Assist patients and their families to navigate the health system, access practical needs, understand their treatment and medical terminology

About the role

The Family Accommodation Service (FAS) provides an accommodation service of 13 rooms/studio’s for patients, carers and families who are attending the Women’s for treatment and care and their residence is greater than 100km from the Women’s. This position will oversee the day to day operation of the service and work closely with the Social Work teams who refer eligible patients. The role of the Coordinator is to primarily ensure the provision of accommodation for patients and their families, requiring short term lodging. This includes liaison with all departments of the hospital, providing patients with information, arranging bookings, administering billing and reimbursement systems, and consulting with other departments to arrange cleaning and maintenance.

Your duties will include:

• Responsibility for the day to day operational running of the FAS
• Responsibility for the development and implementation of administrative programs, policies and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the FAS
• Management of the FAS booking system and wait list
• When required, supervising any maintenance work and renovations
• Safeguarding security and compliance including conducting inspections where necessary

About Payroll

Payroll Services, which is a part of the Finance & Corporate Services Department, is responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner, in full compliance with all relevant legislation and Awards.

About the role

The Payroll Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring that all pays are processed accurately to meet award requirements and time frames whilst providing exceptional customer service to all internal staff members.

A regular day will see you:

• Ensure that all payroll data is prepared within strict timeframes, including new employee details, timesheets, award increases, variations to contract or conditions and terminations.
• Processing of Salary Packaging, Workers Compensation & Government Parental leave.
• Processing of fortnightly payruns and offlines when required.

About you

You’ll bring with you:

• Strong customer service focus
• Ability to perform under pressure whilst working towards strict deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to be pro-active and make decisions. Minimum of five years previous payroll experience (preferably within the health industry)
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Awards (preferably within the health industry)
