Expression of Interest: International Registered Midwives and Nurses

Who we need

We’re seeking passionate and highly skilled registered midwives and nurses to join the Women’s in the following key areas:

  • maternity services 
  • operating theatres
  • neonatal services 
  • women’s health

We are committed to using the social model of health to ensure we acknowledge, understand and respond to the individual needs of women. This means our nurses are part of multidisciplinary teams that actively encourage the empowerment of women and their right to make informed decisions about their health.

Midwfery services at the Women's is one of Australia's largest with over 9,200 babies born every year across our two campuses in Parkville and Sandringham. We provide a range of models of care to our women including team care, Midwives in Small Teams (MIST) and caseload midwifery in our COSMOS program. As a tertiary care provider, we also have opportunities to work with our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) unit, providing midwifery assessment, support and birthing care to women who are high risk and with complex psycho-social pregnancies.  

Our women’s health service provides more than 40 per cent of Victoria’s public health gynaecology services. Our 62-bed neonatal service sees up to 2,000 premature and unwell babies every year from across Victoria, providing care through our neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery. Our busy operating suite provides a critical service for planned and emergency procedures support women from all services. 

 What you can expect 

  • Nurse/Midwife to patient ratios (In maternity services ratios of 1:1 in birth centre, 1:4 mothers in postnatal care and 1:6 on night duty)
